This are the process pictures for the assigned “Repetition Grid”.
Here are my motif thumbnails.
Then came the playing around within the individual “cell”, and final motif inking options.
Here are my five motif placement plans.
Here’s my final motif placement.
Here are my three inking plans.
And here’s my final inked design.
- Avoid centered focal points.
- If your design consist of a repeated pattern still keep in mind you can have variety within a pattern.
-Craftsmanship goes a long way when it comes to the overall aesthetic of a piece.
-Remember “economy” when deciding if your piece needs a border or not.
I thought that this project was difficult especially when it came down to the placement and inking of the motif.
Not only was the actual inking hard, but making sure that your plan looked deliberate and added to the overall piece was also pretty difficult .
