Project for Peace Call for entries – November 30!

Every year the Davis United World College Scholars Program (www.davisuwcscholars.org) awards approximately $1.25 million in $10,000 Projects for Peace grants to students attending one of their 94 partner institutions, of which SCAD is one. This is a wonderful opportunity for SCAD students to develop and submit project proposals to improve the world. Winning teams will be awarded $10,000 to execute their plan of action.
This is a wonderful opportunity for SCAD students, especially for those interested in pursuing collaborative, global-based projects. Below are the criteria for eligibility:
- All undergraduate students graduating after summer 2013 are eligible.
- Students (preferably in teams of 2 to 4) who have ideas for projects which promote peace and improve the quality of human life are sought.
- Projects should focus on conflict prevention, resolution or reconciliation.
- Up to 2 winning projects from SCAD will receive grants of $10,000 each to execute their project in summer 2013!
- Submission Timeline
- Interested individuals/teams must submit a one page letter [Word document or PDF] to Nancy Richards (nrichard@scad.edu) no later than November 30 that includes the following:
- The names, addresses, phone numbers, email addresses and majors of each team member.
- A 250 word summary outlining the proposed project.

Upon submission of this letter, detailed guidelines for the proposal will be distributed.
- Final proposals must be submitted to the SCAD selection committee no later than January 15.
- The SCAD selection committee will review all proposals and select a winner and first alternate by February 11.
- Recipients will be notified of grant awards by March 15.
SCAD is honored to be a participant in this program. We strongly encourage you to encourage students to form a team and create innovative Projects for Peace proposals.
