The spring 2012 commencement ceremony participation meeting was held May 4 at Lucas Theatre.

Spring 2012 Commencement Presentation

If you need extra tickets for the upcoming ceremony, please talk to your fellow students to see if they may not need all (or any) of their tickets. We are encouraging graduating students to make any extra tickets available to other students’ families and guests. Not everyone needs all the tickets they are given for the ceremonies, so please, if you will not use all of your allotted tickets for the spring 2012 commencement, please give them to another student who may need the additional seats.

We are adjusting and designing the space to safely accommodate as many guests as possible We are accommodating every single person fairly and equally. We are doing everything possible to make the event accessible to as many people as possible.

Students graduating with honors are recognized during commencement. Honors are also noted on diplomas. They are NOT PRINTED on graduation announcements because final GPAs are not calculated until after the ceremony.

Cum Laude 3.50-3.69
Magna Cum Laude 3.70-3.89
Summa Cum Laude 3.90-4.00

ATTENTION Graduating Students

If you are completing your requirements winter, spring or summer quarter of 2012 and have not applied for graduation, please do so immediately.
If you haven’t completed an application yet, you can apply for graduation by following these steps to access the online application:

1. Log into MySCAD and click on the Resources tab.

2. Go to the Forms Channel section and select the Registrar form.

3. From the list of forms, select Graduation Application and it will instruct you regarding the information we need to know.

There is a graduation meeting March 2nd, 2012 at 2:00 pm in the Trustees Theater on Broughton Street. All graduation candidates (students expecting to complete their degrees winter, spring or summer )should attend this meeting

The Herff Jones representatives were on campus last October and again in February. They are not returning, so caps and gowns must be ordered through the company’s website. It is important to place your order soon. Honors recognition is not printed on your graduation announcements.

The final day to place online cap and gown orders is April 13th, 2012.
The site will close at midnight.
Telephone orders can be requested until May 23rd, 2012.

Students will be responsible for paying late charges on all cap and gown orders. These take effect April 13th, 2012.

Important Dates/Events:

Cap and Gown Orders……..Herff Jones website for online orders will close at midnight, April 13th.
The final day for placing telephone orders is May 23rd.

Ceremony Participants’ Meeting…May 4th, 2012 Lucas Theater 12:00 noon

Mandatory Ceremony Rehearsal…June 1st, 2012 Savannah Civic Center 2:00 p.m.

Commencement Ceremony……….June 2nd, 2012 9:00 a.m. (General conferment of degrees) 1 p.m./4p.m

Please note the ceremony participation deadline May 4th, 2012.  Any student wanting to participate in the spring commencement ceremony must complete a graduation application by the deadline for the term you will complete your degree requirements AND be approved by your graduation auditor.  Students must email their graduation auditor (see Contact Information) in order to confirm ceremony participation if they indicated “undecided” on their graduation application.
