Time to get your fibers together
HELLO THERE!!!
I hope everyone is having a swell start! It seems that we’re ALREADY well into busy bee time, BUT I wanted to let you know about some cool things that are
going on thru the Fibers club this fall!
Â
1. Monday Night Knitting. Happens every monday at 8:00pm at Gallery Espresso. (cute cafe with red umbrellas outside on the corner of Bull and Perry Street.)
Bring your knitting or anything else to work on and hang out a little bit.
*** If you need needles, Ex Libris has started carrying really nice bamboo ones for about $5! Wild Fiber on Liberty Street is a good place to get yarn, although I will be bringing SOME this week if you need it.
Â
2. LOOP IT UP SAVANNAH! We started this project last fall. Volunteers from all over the Savannah community get together at the West Broad Street YMCA and teach fiber based are classes to local kids. Totally fun, totally wonderful. This year, we are hoping to do a series of short workshops in which YOU come and teach something that YOU love to do. Classes are Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday, Thursday 4:30- 5:30. We’ll be starting up sometime in October.
***Check out the blog www.loopitupsavannah.blogspot.com or respond to this email to find out more!
Â
3. The Savannah Community Materials Collection! NEW THIS FALL! We see art supplies and materials getting thrown out all the time! It’s hard to know that this is happening in the very same community that has such a shortage of art supplies for local kids to use. So, the plan is to collecting and redistributing.
*** Join the Savannah Community Materials Collection group on facebook to get information about what we’re collecting, where you can drop stuff off, OR to join the team and be an organizer!
Â
4. Potluck Dinners/ Creative Confluence. We love to do potluck dinners. Everyone is invited, just bring something yum. We’ll probably do two or three throughout the quarter, dates TBA. Everything is way more fun when we know each other.
This fall we are planning to bring back the Creative Confluence project - this is how it works: a group gets together - say 10 people, we all make an edition of ten small things. (could be books, earrings, knit something or another… some sweet little handmade thing) On a set day, we all exchange our stuff!
Sign up will most likely be at the first potluck dinner!
Â
This is all just a start! There will probably be more, get in touch if you have ideas or questions!Â
