Subdivision of a Groundsheet
For this project we had to create designs with only lines. The final product was done on bristol paper with construction paper lines.
I chose the top left design because the contrast of movement really caught my attention and I love the way it forms a shape without actually having a solid outline.
I picked the top right because I liked the way the lines overlap and show which sets are in the foreground, middle ground, and background.
The bottom left is my favorite of the four. I am always drawn to simple yet solid designs and I love the way the negative space is acutely continuous and resembles a maze if followed.
The bottom right was a finalist because of the contrast of curvilinear and linear placement. I liked the way the horizontal and vertical lines create a sense of sturdiness and support as opposed to the looseness of the curved lines. However, my favorite part is the interruption of the diagonal lines.
