Get their attention with a creative card December 3, 2009Posted by SCAD Fashion Department in : Careers, Illustration, Museums and Exhibitions , trackback
Sarah Collins found the best holiday cards in the Shop SCAD store today. It got me thinking about what a great way that is to showcase your talent in a non-invasive cheery way.
There’s a new exhibition this month at the Smithsonian featuring 100 holiday cards from some very notable American artists. Here are photographs of some of the cards featured in the exhibition.
The Smithsonian Magazine, in their write-up of the exhibition, stated that
[t]he cards in this exhibition weren’t about making money. They were for friends, family and maybe a gallery owner or two. Not meant for public viewing, they give us an intimate, unguarded view of artists doing what we count on artists to do: break through the canned sentiments and commercial clutter of their time to make a personal statement.
Isn’t that what we all long to do?
Why not make a card and send it to your favorite fashion designer or retailer? In this world of a million emails and generic factory-made greeting cards, your offering is sure to be appreciated.
