Hi I’m Erin. Erin Song.
I was born in Korea but raised in Hong Kong since I was young. In America they have people nicknamed ‘ABC’ which means, ‘American born Chinese’ so I guess in my case it would be HKRBBK aka ‘Hong Kongese raised but born Korean’ If…. that made any sense…
I am currently aspiring a very difficult line of work. Art. I want to become an artist. An illustrator to be more precise. But… thats really much about it. I don’t know exactly what kind of illustrator I want to become. I’ve got ideas such as a fashion illustrator, visual development artist, advertising illustrator such and such… So many things I want to become but so little time.
Studying in Savannah College of Art and Design, widely known as SCAD has branched in Hong Kong and I knew that this University would be able to help me figure out what I want to do.
I’m taking Computer Arts in the Winter quarter 2013 and our assignment is starting a blog and blogging about whatever we please. For a whole quarter! Not going to complain. I love the assignment. I just hope that this assignment will be able to help me clear out my future.
I feel like I just blabbered along over there. Well, you see, art has become very modernized these days and unlike the ancient times we dont stick to the whole hyperrealistic oil paintings. We now have other ways to tell our story. With just simple kinds of materials pens, color pencils, Photoshop, Illustrator etc. We became more creative with our art.
What I am most interested in is illustrations of hair. My professor thinks that ‘Creative Hair Illustrations‘ is a topic that would be too restricted but to someone like me and many other hair obsessed artists this is a very broad, yet very interesting topic.
I just want to talk about one or two artists per week and comment about their work. With the hope of being able to come to my senses about what I want my future to be like whilst looking at the many artists with the same obsession. HAIR.
