Gabrielle Moreno, Illustrator

Gabrielle Moreno is an illustrator, engraver and painter based in Madrid. He has worked in different design stydios and ad agencies in Andalusia. In 2007. he was selected as one of the 20 new talents of illustration by the Landon based magazine Computer Arts. He has worked for companies such as Vogele shoes, GAP, Coca Cola etc..

He uses a mixture of graphic design with his illustration work and works very well in the advertising industry.

He also has a very particular style of drawing. The realistic and detailed drawing of the face with pen and ink, then draws the flowing long strands of lined hair and finally from time to time, mixes together with photography to complete his art works.

Vogele (Shoes brand)

I like the idea of having a giant shoe box being drawn on and has holes for real legs. The way the photo is taken was very interesting. Actually, the whole concept is very modern and creative and a great way to promote both Gabriell Moreno’s illustration and the shoes that they are trying to advertise.

Brian Eno, cover of his authorised biography by Orion Books

He illustrated this cover reflecting on Brian Eno’s different faces.  Although some of these aren’t actually hair, it has the flow and feeling of hair.  I love the use of his lines and colors. I think it’s a beautifully designed book cover and it is very inspiring.

This was his first solo exhibition. Exhibited because he needed to promote himself as a commercial work illustrator. In these works he was just promoting his illustrations so there was a bit more of freedom to his works. I am especially in love with this work because of the many hair created from his lines and it only used black and white. He showed great use of negative space as well.

Coca-Cola Light

He uses the main colors of red black and white to create this whole illustration. Even though the sofa does not have an outline, he is able to create a sense of space. Her hair is very freely flying around and it looked like he was trying to continue the free flow of hair instead of coke. It looks like the hair is the coke flying out of the bottle.
