Blackboard Instant Messenger (Blackboard IM) is a free, synchronous communication tool available to all SCAD faculty and students. Blackboard IM allows users to view online students and instructors, communicate in one-on-one, real-time text and/or voice conversations and participate in centralized group chats. Blackboard IM users are also able to add and/or remove contacts and create customized user groups.
To get started with Blackboard IM, access the Blackboard IM link in any course navigation menu. Next, connect to the Blackboard IM link and follow the provided directions to set up an account. Once you have successfully created your Blackboard IM account, download the Blackboard IM application for your Mac or PC. After you have installed Blackboard IM on your computer, start the application and login with your credentials.
