- Got a help desk ticket for Pat Canady’s machine on the 4th floor. She has been getting uncontrollable pop ups on her screen and it may be because of a virus. I went up to check it out for her, but she was not there so I sent her an email letting her know I’d come up when she was free so that I can fix the issue. It is ticket #30656
- Jason Maurer, Craig Kovacs, and Mike Gargiulo all have access to the SFDM-SHARES Assessment folder and files. They were looking for an O: drive when they should have been looking in the I: drive for the Projects.
- Went back upstairs to Pat Canady’s machine. She needed the latest Shockwave, Flash, and Office 2007 SP2 updates which I installed. As for the desktop background, it is set by network services and will continue to revert back to the default SCAD background. I will contact Phong Trinh and see if we can get that changed for the faculty/staff here in Montgomery Hall. He said that he may have to just change it back to the default blue SCAD desktop for faculty and staff in Montgomery Hall.
- Created an Excel spreadsheet with the updated Montgomery Hall laptop inventory for the faculty and staff. I will email it to Dan Hernandez to have for his records and put into the web page inventory.

- Created a 200gb project space for Christina L. Page called VSFX-PARADISE LOST and added the requested members to it. Emailed her letting her know that it is ready to use.
- Created a 100gb project space for Christoper A. Brown called ANIM-PATCH FOCUS and dded the requested members to it. Emailed him letting him know that it is ready to use.
- Addressed a problem report concerning the project space called VSFX-FACESINPLACES by Eric Soltysiak. The group member thisel20 can’t seem to access the project space, although he has been added to it weeks ago.
- Emailed SuAnne Fu about her laptop. She put in a problem report saying that it has stopped working and that she can’t access anything on her desktop or the web browsers. She does have access to her dropboxes though. I asked her to bring it by the office and I will check it out for her.
- Called Zu Sekerova about her problem report for the camera drivers using Processing. Andrew Hieronymi told her that she will need a camera that has a zoom feature in order for her final project to work and the Logitech web cams do not have this feature. She has a Canon 3CCD Digital Video Camcorder and needs the drivers installed for it to work for her project. I told her that she will need to stop by the Systems Office with the camera and I will see what I can do to help her out and get it to work.
- Went to the 4th floor to cubicle 434 and checked the Z600 machine to see if Banner was installed. It works fine for me and I was able to use it on the MyScad site with no problems.
- Checked on machine 204-18, a student was having issues with the Cintiq, it seemed to be out of sync. I re-installed the 21UX drivers and after resetting the computer it worked as it should.
- The 2gb stick of RAM came in from HP, I boxed up the old on and replaced the memory. I will take the broken one back to Propes Hall today to have it shipped back to HP.
- Zu Sekerova came by and we went to room 222 and set up the WinVDig software and her Canon camera on one of the machines. It works perfectly and there are no additional drivers needed for it to work. We also set it up on the Physical Computing machine in the Systems office as well and it works there also. As long as WINVDIG is installed, the video camera will work properly. I updated the Physical Computing FAQ on the SFDM forum for this issue.
- Cheri T. Fojtik put in a problem report requesting that her two project spaces: ANIM-Wally and Zip & Cheri_Thesis both be extended until the end of March 2010. I obliged her and extended both of them and emailed her letting her know.
- Mike Garguilo came in with his 8530w laptop saying that he can’t use the Stretch Mesh plug-in with Maya. It is producing an error now, but it was working when I gave it to him and we both tested it out together. He needs to be able to use it as a stand alone app, but it runs off the MAC address. I emailed Kickstand the license file and error as requested by them, awaiting there next response.
- Charlotte Slater emailed Wes Scott Hall saying that Craig Kovacs and Jason Maurer still can’t view the O: drive. I sent Jason Maurer the correct smb path for his Mac. He was on a lab machine that is on AD, so I showed him how to get to it from the I: drive. I emailed Craig Kovacs the steps to take when looking for the Projects/Assessment folder on pc’s using Novel and Active Directory.
- Went to check Craig Kovacs laptop again to see if I could get the O: drive visible on his machine. His laptop is on Active Directory and he was still trying to access the Assessments folder using the O: drive which does not exists. I showed him the path using the I:\Savannah\Projects\SFDM and he’s all set. I emailed Charlotte Slater and let her know as well. Mike Gargiulo had the same issue, so I emailed the path to him.
- Removed Microsoft Office 2003, Houdini 9.1, and 3D Max from Mike Gargiulo’s laptop. He now has 1.3gb of space free instead of the 136mb he had earlier. He said that he will also free up the C: drive by removing his saved files from it and place them on the D: drive.
- I had to make Mike Gargiulo a local administrator in order for the Stretch Mesh plug in to work on his laptop. It worked perfectly upon rebooting the machine after that. I emailed Kickstand and let them know as well and everyone is happy.

- Got Charles Shami and Larry Valentine’s laptop information for the inventory.
- Contacted HP about the 6600 machine with the bad memory in it. It is machine 2UA8300MT6, Sandro Blattner removed and gave me the bad memory stick. HP is sending a replacement today and it should be in by Monday morning. It is case# 4606557585

- Emailed Nikhil J. Deshpande about the path to the assessment folder: I: \Savannah\Projects\SFDM.
- Sent an email to Phong Trinh about John Rauh and nikhil J Deshpande not being able to access the Assessments folder.
- Emailed John Rauh and Nikhil to assist in getting them access to the SFDM-FILE server. They both are still having issues. Phong Trinh sent the correct path needed for John Rauh to access it with a Mac. That path is: smb://sfdm-file.sfdm.scad.edu/sfdm-projects
- Went to the 4th floor and assisted Pat Helbig to prepare for the Pixar guests. I logged in the B.C.S.T. chair machine and the spare Z600 with the steam account. Pat will call me when Pixar comes back from their tour so that I can log them into the wireless.
- Got a few more of the faculty’s laptop information from the 4th floor. Had John Heeter grab the advisors laptops for me from the 4th floor office. I’ll put them in the black cabinet and label the keys for the specific locks that they go with.
- Went downtown to drop off the Mac computer and the lcd monitor to be repaired.
- John Rauh emailed me back saying that the smb://sfdm-file.sfdm.scad.edu/sfdm-projects path worked for him and that he was able to upload a test file and have Charlotte check it.
- Went to Propes Hall and picked up the 2 Arduino boards for the Physical Computing class machine. Closed out the ticket for it, the ticket number was 29538 and the CNRF number was 5545.
- The wireless on the 4th floor went down around 1:45, Pat Helbig called and I went up and logged the guests from Pixar back in. I had to turn the wireless air cards off on their laptops, then back on for it to work though.

- Set up the Academic Advisors on the 4th floor, they each have access to banner and a printer to assist the students this year.
- Turned the thermostat down to 70 degrees in the labs on the 1st floor. Someone turned them up to 85 yesterday and its hot as an oven in the labs now. Contacted the cage staff and let them know about this issue.
- Placed the compressed air cans in the black cabinet in the server room and 8 of them in the black cabinet in the back of the Systems Office.
- Charlotte Slater emailed me saying that she & Keith Ingham still can’t access the O: drive or the ITGM folder in it. I asked her to reset her computer after she sent me a screen shot showing that the folder is not in the O: drive. Keith was having trouble getting the O: drive to mount at all.
- Sent an email to all of the work study with the task to acquire all of the faculty/staff laptops on the 4th floors information to update the inventory. I went up and did most of them myself so that they will have a template to go off of. There are some professors that are not in, so I will email them and let them know that we will need their information as well.
- Charlotte Slater is still having issues connecting to the ITGM folder in the O: drive. It simply is not appearing for her. I called Phong, but he was gone to lunch. Christian Windebank tried to help, but he doesn’t have access to that server only the Windows ones. I will try Phong again after 2pm.
- Extended Sandro Blattner’s VSFX-EN ROUTE project space til 3-31-2009 and also set the VSFX-STUDIO1 project space at 50gb instead of 30gb.
- Talked with Charlotte Spencer, she is the Senior Assessment Coordinator for all of the School of Film and Digital Media. Phong Trinh is trying to get things straightened out with the permissions for her and the staff in Atlanta that can’t view the folders or access the drive.
- I called Charlotte Spencer back and she can now access the Assessment folder as needed, thanks Phong!

- The Atlanta staff can’t access the SFDM Assessments projects folder. After checking everything such as the user names nad rights/policies, I contacted Phong Trinh via email and he fixed it. I asked it there was anyting that I could do to fix it myself, but it was on network services’ side. They needed to allow Atlanta faculty/staff users access to the SFDM-FILE.
- Received an email for CNRF# 5545, the arduino boards have been delivered to Propes Hall. I will pick them up tomorrow afternoon and bring them back to Montgomery Hall.
- Added the following faculty/staff to the O:\ANIM\ASSESSMENT folder so that they can have access to it: Keith Ingham, Tina O’Hailey, Matthew Maloney, Jason Maurer, Debra Smith Moorshead, Brian Schindler, Craig Kovacs, and Michael Gargiulo.
- Continued working on the advisors laptops so that they will be ready for tomorrow morning. Lance and I took 2 of them to the 4th floor and placed them in the cubicles across from Mehreen Bazm and Maria Evans. Cubicle 436 is now occupied by faculty, so I can’t place them in there anymore. The 3rd one is still on my desk in the Systems office. I am trying to find Rose Ibiama to see if where we placed them is ok for tomorrow from 8:00am til 1:00pm.
- Rose and I did a walk through and said that they should be fine where we placed them.

- Installed the stand alone license for Craig Kovac’s laptop. He bought it in yesterday and said that it was missing.
- Went to help Soha Kabil with her homespace issues. After she got her new machine, which is on the Active Directory domain now, she could not access her home space. Phong Trinh informed me that they aren’t moving staff over to AD, but he was able to get her home space files and move them over. He said that Novel will be around until NEXT December, not this December as we previously thought. All of her files were moved over and she can now access them. I also updated the group policy preferences and installed the Avery Label software that she previously had installed on her old machine.
