Here is a historical anatomical illustration that has inked
on human body!
The tattooist Rodrigo said ‘’ People think I’m crazy but I
really like Riemsdyk`s drawings and the history behind them.” Jan van Riemsdyk,
drew the above illustration in Anatomia uteri human gravidi (The Anatomy of the
Human Gravid Uterus), by anatomist William Hunter (1774).

There are some projects that leading kids to make art based on the human body and educated them with simple anatomy knowledge. This piece is from The Crafty Classroom. The teacher provided some materials like Thread , egg carton and noodle, just to name a few. There is a small foam noodle goes through the egg carton pods in order to show the flexibility of the spine.

It is designed by New York artist Jason Freeny. The Lego anatomy schematic is so cool and it recalls me a lot of my childhood memories. Everyone should have at least one lego set in their home and I think it is really successful anatomy design for teenagers to explore more about anatomy and art.

Although Rick Genest didn’t mean to be an anatomy artist but I still think the skeletal tattoos are worth to discuss. Rick Genest is a Canadian artist and fashion model born in Lasalle, Montreal. He collected tattoos as he backpacked through Canada. When he was in 19, he met Montreal tattoo artist Frank Lewis. Then Frank did the design on his body and it took 6 years to finish. I think his tattoo is one of the most popular anatomy artworks among the world.

It is the first time I saw geometric anatomy created with thread and nails. The structure of human bodies were well-definded by thread. You can even feel the texure and value although they are flat image.

This series called Musculante, which is created by Barcelona-based illustrator – Giselle Vitall. She incorporated anatomy into the web icons that are popular in internet like Facebook, Google and Tumbir.
She says of the work,
“Experimentar a fondo—las redes sociales nos invaden, no sabemos si ellas son parte de nosotros o nosotros de ellas. No sabemos tampoco, quien utiliza a quien. Basados en esto, supongo que deben de tener carne, mucosas y huesos, aunque no se, si sentimientos, como nosotros mismos!
Translation: Experimenting thoroughly—the social networks invade us, we do not know if they are part of us or we of them. We do not know either, who uses whom. Based on this, I guess they must have meat, bones and mucus, and even feelings, like ourselves!”
