Roles and Features Installed in regard to imaging:

Windows Deployment Services (WDS). Facilitates PXE and manages boot disks.

Microsoft Deployment Tool Kit (MDT 2010). Facilitates the capture and deployment of Windows images.

Windows Automated Installation Kit (WAIK). Allows the direct manipulation of unattended installation files.

Synopsis

Each imaging server is configured as a PXE locator point and responds to all client request. The PXE environment is performed by WDS and all relevant services are run from the RemoteInstall share. Images, control files, drivers etc are housed in the Deploymentshare$ hidden share, managed by MDT 2010.
