Ms. Waldvogel’s assignment was to divide a page into a design that emphasizes line but develops interest in how the space is subdivided. Use straight horizontal and vertical lines, use diagonal lines, use curved lines, and finally use a combination of them all. I tried to use variations in line thickness to imply depth to sort of spruce it up a bit. It was an interesting assignment.
Edit: Posted the final images in a more presentable manner. Obviously there are some craftsmanship issues with these. One of many things I’ve learned from them. I need to step up my game for sure. Also, I will be redesigning the weakest of the four. More to come in the next post. Stay tuned!

Your image with the all of the different lines is amazing! I know it’s not representational but it looks like a really awesome spider!
Ha! Amazing wouldn’t be my first description of it. I think messy would probably be more accurate. But I thought it would be a fun idea. I appreciate the comment Mackinley!
I love piece number 4 I feel liked I’m being sucked into the image as it really holds your attention in the center. Great work man!
Thanks Broski!
Well, well, well…
I think I’ll make myself right at home in here. I like this — very aesthetically pleasing.
I seemed to have misplaced the key to unlock my mouth back there in class this morning; I was a little quiet, but now is definitely my chance to say that I really did enjoy your designs. Beauty in simplicity is often a concept that flees from the very sight of me, so I’m always impressed when I can see someone capture the little bugger. And capture it well. Now don’t even get me started on the other work you have posted here… oh, jealousy. She is a cruel mistress.
Keep sharin’! And I’ll keep postin’.
Thanks! I appreciate the supportive comments. Always means a lot to me. And I’ll definitely keep an eye on your posts. They’re super entertaining. Hilarious and assertive.
Looks very great! Very good craftsmanship and clean lines. Not any of those looks boring.
Not quite as clean as I should have made them, but I appreciate the complement!
I really enjoy these designs! Actually I like the roughness of the lines! And it’s nice how the negative spaces form really interesting forms and create focal points in your pieces. Keep up the interesting work! By the way, the first thing that caught my eye was your blog’s design, I really like it!
Hey thanks! I appreciate the complements. Glad someone digs my layout.
These are looking sharp, man! I’ve always found ink much easier to work with than cut paper, but you make it look easy! Feel free to check out my finals/redesign:
