The Effects in Flex 4 Lab was pretty good. It was mostly on the animation engine that has been introduced in Flex 4. I’m not real sure how we would be able to use this but it is good for providing a more enhanced visual feedback for our users with flex applications.

The Data-Centric Development with Flash(Flex) Builder 4 was also really good. It was about building a DataGrid with a connection to a SQL instance through a coldfusion connection so it seems like something we could really use. I have the notes and a finished version of the application on my laptop so I can walk someone through it when I get back.

All in all Day Two was a good day at Adobe MAX.

At the Adobe Keynote the biggest announcement was that in the next version of flash professional you will be able to output for the iPhone. This still means that any flash based content in the browser will still be unsupported but if anyone wants to quickly create a flash game or app it’s possible. The other major thing was the Enterprise demo for LiveCycle DS and Coldfusion which allows for quick creation of workflows. The demonstrater showed a Human Resources App that was built to ease the hiring process and the LiveCycle ES Workflow Builder was really nice. They also showed some previews of the James Cameron Avatar movie which was exclusive to MAX attendees.

I also sat in front of Lynda.coms Lynda Weinman and being the geek I am decided to take a picture.

My first session was Ajax for Designers and it was somewhat productive. The speaker showed how you could put the jQuery UI widgets into the insert panel in Dreamweaver which makes it possible to take advantage of that library and show UI demos really easy.

I skipped my second session because of a delay in the keynote causing my two sessions to overlap but it was basically a demonstration and nothing real important to SCADs day to day affairs.

Traveling is always fun. Woke up at 4 am this morning so I guess my body clock will remain the same all week. Here’s what’s on the agenda today:

I arrived in LAX at 11:30 AM and came straight to the Convention Center. They are having pre-conference workshops today which I didn’t sign up for but they still fed me some Fajitas so that was nice.  I am missing my comrade since he missed his plane but no problem I’ll find something to do. Things should get moving tomorrow. It’s pretty laughable that I’m LA and have absolutely nothing to do maybe I should have told Arnie I was coming so he could set something up.
