Repetition Grid

Our last project was to create a repetition grid in which we had to take one shape and pierce it with another shape. I chose a square that was pierced with a triangle.

We had to create a motif using the shape and then use tracing paper to find a way to color the squares. We could leave the squares blank, color them solid, or color parts of the shapes.

Once we found a color pattern we liked we had to transfer the motif to a board and use India ink to color the motif.

In this project we had to create compositions with flat black squares to represent: congested, playful, tension, order, increase, and bold. I created all my compositions in photoshop, expect for order which I drew with a black pen.
