If you’re following along at home, I was working on some homework assignments. Well good news! I am all finished. It took a lot of time, hours of Supernatural, an aching spine and a huge mess everywhere, but I finished!
Luckily I am a perfectionist, so I’m actually pretty pleased with how these came out. It’s a little strange for me when a physical art medium piece turns out well, seeing as I am a filmmaker, but I am not complaining.
Here you shall see the work of the 21st century artist known as me (with some explanation behind each piece):
(USING HORIZONTAL AND VERTICAL LINES)
I picked this piece out of my sketches because I really like creating a shape out of negative space. I wanted to pull focus into the center where there is a big giant nothing. I think that’s really interesting.
(USING DIAGONAL LINES)
I picked this piece because while we had to work with diagonals, I wanted to work with gravity as well. Cutting off the advancement of the lines kinda gives it a looming feel and the negative space works well with the design.
(USING CURVES)
I picked this piece because I learned a lot about circles in my last art class and I thought I would incorporate that knowledge into it. It’s really interesting to me how you can create lines and somehow it gives you the impression that there is a while other shape behind another. It gives it depth.
(USING HORIZONTAL, VERTICAL, DIAGONAL LINES AND CURVES)
I picked this piece initially because it reminded me of a stain glass window. I also really like it because it encloses all of the lines and shapes and puts it smack dab in the center.
I really am quite pleased with the results of my pieces from just the sketches.
If you are interested here are my preliminary sketches.
Soon we shall see what everyone else thinks of them!
In the meantime, have a fantastic day!

I really enjoy your design using all of the lines. It really interesting and somehow, reminds me of a baseball field! I also really like the diagonal line design. It oddly compliments even though it is just one corner.

Your blog is different , in a good way. And the last design is my favorite, looks like it can be a stain glass window or something

I like your curved lines piece because I think you used line and space equally well. And you created an image that holds attention. Reminds me of those ball pits that kids play in.

I know that most say your focal point should not always be in the center of page, buuuut… I enjoy a rebel. That first piece is a really exceptional way of standing out.
The time that must have taken… Hell, I thought I had patience. Ha.

Hey! I’m also a filmmaker and I’m pleased to see one of my colleagues doing so nicely on this project! I particularly enjoy how you designed your first piece! Even though the focal point is almost in the center, you can still see some shift to the right side which makes the composition a lot more interesting! The white square of “nothing” and all the little squares kind of shimmer which makes it look almost 3D!

Hey! I really like your design especially the one of the vertical – horizontal lines and the one of the curved lines. They are very creative and different of all the others and i can see that you dedicated lot of time for each design.

I think your exploration of the curved lines is really successful, your eye moves completely around the composition completing a circular path of vision which just emphasizes the curved lines in the composition. Good job!
