‘Seok’ and the Japanese influence

For today’s post, I thought I’d touch on more than one subject. To start, I found this highly skilled Korean illustrator called Seok Jung Hyun. What caught my eye, looking through his pictures, was some of his nearly photorealistic artwork. It turned out though, that Seok has also done concept-art for online games, among other things. Overall though, he seams to be highly influenced by Japanese art (‘Manga’, if you will).

This is where my other subject comes in. Why is it that so many illustrators, in both China and Korea, seam to have such a great influence by Japanese culture? And why is it that this type of art put such a big focus on ‘sexy’ women? I guess we’ll be digging deeper into this topic once we get to the illustrators of Japan, so for now, take a look at some more of the artwork of Seok Jung Hyun underneath and see what you think of it. Until next time!
