The artwork of ‘Cuson’

On my search for illustrators based in Hong Kong, I came upon an artist by the name of Cuson Lo; yes, it’s a guy, and he prefers to only go under the name ‘Cuson’. What caught my interest when looking through his pictures were the comic-looking (very much Japanese-inspired), but still detailed people and creatures that tend to fill up his paintings. According to the website idnworld.com, Cuson is heavily influenced by the anime-movie “Tekkon Kinkreet”, which would explain the comic-looking characters. I like how he uses a lot of color, while also playing with many (sometimes a bit twisted) angles. You can see some of his illustrations underneath.

(note: the last picture was made for a book that idnworld.com released, which let different illustrators do their own portrayal of a futuristic New Work, called “Neo York”)
