Atlanta Equipment Checkout’s blog

Hello everyone,

Welcome back.  We hope the new academic year treats you well.  Here are some important items regarding Atlanta’s Equipment Checkout facilities:

• New Location:  We are no longer located in the main building (1600 Peachtree St.)  We are now in the new Digital Media Center (included in the Shuttle Services route and within walking distance).  Equipment Checkout is currently located on the 3rd floor in room 339.  The DMC allows 24 hour student access.
• New Services:  We will soon be providing facility rentals of private editing suits in the DMC.  These locked suits provide sound insulation and dual screen digital editing stations.  Other types of facilities will become available for reservation once DMC renovation is completed.
• New Hours: In order to better facilitate students, staff and faculty, and to provide plentiful access to the above mentioned facility rentals, we have extended our hours.   Once Equipment Checkout is fully opened, our services will be available from 8AM to 11PM daily, including weekends.  Please be aware: we may initially be open for limited hours only.  We are making every effort to organize and train our new work study staff to meet the needs of the campus.

Equipment Checkout has filled enough work study positions for Summer ‘09 to remain open from 10-6 Monday through Friday.  We are no longer actively hiring for the quarter, however we always welcome applications in the event we have an unforseen need for additional help, and we want to hear from anyone interested in working next quarter.

Equipment Checkout Work Study

The summer quarter is about to start and we need some new workers to help keep Equipment Checkout open and assist Technology Services staff with campus maintenance.  Applicants must be full time students in the Summer Quarter.

Duties include:

• Opening/Closing the Equipment Checkout cage (1st floor, A building by the Receptionist desk)
• Processing equipment checkouts and returns
• Performing periodic inventory checks
• Maintaining printer supplies for student computer labs
• Assisting with special event A/V setup and execution
• Assisting Tech Services Staff as needed
