<p>I lost some of the pieces and I let the map dry on my desk. There was some pastel dust on there, so I just added more pastel to the map while it was wet.</p>

<p>Critique Notes: Generic pose and not much color</p>
<p>Thoughts: I had a lot of fun with this project, despite the challenges of trying to make a 3D model and failing. I wish I added more color to the map(s) I used in the final piece.</p>

<p><i>        Italian Vanity, Designer: Capuci </i>by Antonio Lopez is of a woman in a purple dress. The medium is watercolor and graphite pencils. The woman’s body is facing forward while her head is sideways. She is a skinny caucasian with short light umber hair and is wearing a large amount of blue violet eyes shadow.  The purple shades are a light amethyst for the highlights and mid-tones and an eggplant purple for the shadows. The dress sleeves and bottom appear to be inspired by purple roses. The neckline of the dress up to the sleeves has the roses on the hedges with green stems attached. The sleeves of the dress and the bottom of the dress are very round and curvy like rose petals. The woman also has a purple rose headdress with blue violet roses coming out of it. The woman is wearing an elaborate choker style necklace with another necklace that is elaborately beaded. She is also wearing elaborate drop style type earrings that match the necklace. She is wearing matching bracelet to the rest of the jewelry set. There are white tree branches with light grass green colored leaves. There is a transition of the tree branches to a curvy fence to abstract designs. There is also a lemon yellow light radiating from the model’s head to the fence.</p>

<p>There are great examples of the elements and principles of design in this piece. The line work in this piece is very light and round. Most of the background edges are very soft, while most of the foreground edges are sharper. There are very round shapes in this composition. There are some hard shapes, but they are drawn very lightly in the background. The dress’s sleeves and bottom are bigger in comparison to the size of the model. You can tell the leaves on the branches above the model’s head are in the foreground because they are almost as big as her head. Leaves, most of the time, are not as big as people’s heads. The most vibrant value is purple values because there are both extreme dark and light values. The rest of the yellow and green values are very light. There is an asymmetrical balance in this piece. There are a repetition of roses and round shapes throughout. The dark values of the dress contrast with the lightly and watered down colors of the background. The focal point of the piece is the woman’s head because there is yellow coming from the head and the curves of the fence lean towards her head too.</p>

<p>The reason why I chose this piece over other pieces in the museum is because I like the dress, the curvy lines, and the medium. Even though fashion isn’t my major, it is still something I can appreciate. I find dresses inspired by nature to be very interesting. I like how Antonio Lopez incorporated the roundness of roses to the sleeves and the bottom of the dress. I find that to be aesthetically pleasing. I also like the purple, blue-violet, green combination, it makes the yellow really pop out. I also find the jewelry to be very elegant complimenting the roundness of the dress. I like curvy lines because curvy lines are usually associated with organic forms and organic forms are usually something that makes me feel comfortable. I like the waviness that watercolor gives the piece. The watercolor is very light in the background while it is very strong in the shadows and mid-tones of the dress. The only issue I have with the piece is I would’ve liked the background to be a little more developed, because of the background is a good majority of white, it gives it an unfinished look.</p>

Craig McCracken is famous for his tv shows; The Powerpuff Girls, Dexter&#8217;s Labrotory, and Foster&#8217;s Home for Imaginary Friends. I love his style because of it&#8217;s simplicity and simple shapes. I also like the 70&#8242;s colors he adds to his work. Deviantart is a very popular online art portfolio website.</p>

Chris Sanders is a former Disney animator currently working with Dreamworks. Animated movies that he directed are <span style="text-decoration: underline">Lilo &amp; Stitch </span>and <span style="text-decoration: underline">How to Train Your Dragon</span>. He also has another movie coming out in March that he&#8217;s co-directing called <span style="text-decoration: underline">The Croods</span>. Why I love his style is because it is very round, loose, and organic. It&#8217;s very rare for him to use straight lines.</p>

<p>Tension and Playful:</p>

<p>Why I consider the top one tension is because I see tension as something that would be lightly touching something. Also, because of that, it looks like there are white boxes in between the lightly touching boxes.</p>
<p>Why I consider the bottom one playful, is because I was inspired by if boxes were playing with a ball.</p>
<p>Bold and Congestion:</p>

<p>How the top one is bold is that I made a thick border for a fairly large square.</p>
<p>How the bottom one is congestion is that there is this giant square surrounded by smaller squares touching each other.</p>

<p>The reason why I chose the (which I sadly lost the inking plan file to) I did is because it looked like I used 25 squares, but I really used 100 and I liked that look.</p>

<p>It was a very interesting process. I never thought I could make a consistent design, even though there are flaws with the final design. Overall, I think I learned a lot about repetition in the unifying principles of design.</p>
