Sham Shui Po Festive Lighting Charette

This past year, the Sham Shui Po Christmas Lighting Council asked SCAD Hong Kong’s 3D Design Class to design an installation for the Sham Shui Po District (located in Kowloon, Hong Kong). Design Your Day Coordinator Andrea van Hitum worked with other students in Hong Kong to develop a concept and charetter for the installation. Their concept was to “put character into the park”. Andrea’s idea was to have 12 different elves around the park. After much time and a lot of hard work they presented their ideas to the Sham Shui Po government. They decided to pick certain designs from each group and Andrea’s elves were chosen! The installation was displayed over the holidays.

Leadership & Lemonade: Kickstart to the Year!

After a long summer of being away from SCAD, all of the returning Student Ambassadors were excited to take part in the Leadership and Lemonade Fall recruitment on September 7th, 2012. What a great way to kick start the new school year!

Leadership and Lemonade invited incoming freshman, transfer and graduate students to travel up to 515C during orientation to introduce them to the SCAD Ambassador Program. While serving yummy fudge brownies and some fantastic lemonade to the students and their families (over 100 overall guests!), current Ambassadors had the chance to mingle with the NewBees, letting them in on their very own adventures here at SCAD.

After a brief presentation by our adviser, Jennifer Liu, and a select sampling of the ambassadors, everyone was invited to join in some icebreakers! Francesca led A Million Questions while Kelsey taught everyone how to make a proper Ninja “HIYAH!!” This sure did get the whole crowd in a fit of laughter, helping to ease the tension of pre-school jitters. Winners of both games got to snag some SCAD memorabilia!

We are all so excited to  see who applies to our ambassador program for 2012-2013 fall recruitment. We have already handed out 50 applications, and are looking to hire a total of 15 new ambassadors of various majors and from various hometowns.
