Into the Wild: Ambassador Retreat 2012
Earlier this quarter in the beginning of September, SCAD Student Ambassadors embarked on a retreat to the Blue Ridge Mountains in North Georgia at Camp Blue Ridge. Ambassadors from both Savannah and Atlanta attended the retreat. This was a great way to integrate our ambassador programs allowing ambassadors from each location to come together, meet new people, and make new friends. The retreat was held over the weekend from Friday-Sunday, the perfect amount of time for everyone to have a fun yet relaxing weekend in the mountains. The weekend focused on team building, compatibility, communication, and training.
Ambassadors were able to overcome many challenges through different group activities such as building a fire from scratch, jumping off the blob, climbing through ropes courses, and many others. These group activities paralleled real life situations teaching ambassadors how to work with others to overcome road blocks and barriers in everyday life and how to become unified as a team. To wrap up the weekend, we ended with an activity called Post Secret. Ambassadors were asked to anonymously compose a secret from the retreat, by writing a sentence and/or drawing a picture on a card. All secrets were collected and put on display Sunday morning for everyone to read. It was so inspiring to read everyone’s accomplishments and experiences they had on the retreat.
Overall, the retreat was a great start to our year bringing ambassadors closer together by allowing everyone to open up and feel comfortable with one another. We look forward to a successful year and can’t wait for our next retreat. Check out some of our pictures to really grasp how much fun we had.

SCAD Day Fall 2012
The first SCAD Day of our 2012/2013 school year took place on Saturday,
October 20,2012!
The SCAD-Atlanta Student Ambassadors welcomed prospective
students and their families, as well as accompanied them all over campus to
wherever they needed to go. Ambassadors were stationed in key areas
including the DMC (Digital Media Center), ACA Sculpture Facility, and our
residence halls (ACA Residence Hall and Spring House), as well as all over
the main building, 1600 Peachtree ST, NW. There were shuttle tours
continuously throughout the day, with shuttles looping around all of our
buildings, including Ivy Hall!
A new concept was introduced this SCAD Day: instead of various workshops and
activities happening around campus, a “concierge” system was implemented.
With this system, prospective students would first check-in, and then they
were given their own customized list of places they could visit throughout
the day, based on their personal preferences and interests. Ambassadors
found this to be successful, and a different way for prospective students to
experience the campus, based on exactly what they were most interested in
seeing and doing.
This time we had an 88% participation rate and 100% NewBee Shadowing.
According to the post SCAD Day surveys from our ambassadors, they were all
satisfied with their assignments, the day’s schedule, as well as our brand
new teal ambassador shirts and backpacks!
