Something for everyone… ARCH 414 / 714 – Parametric / Generative Design – MW 8-10:30am – Dietz ELDS 306 / 720 – Electronic Implementation for Urban Design – TR 8-10:30am – Ngo URBA 780 – Special Topics – MW 2-4:30pm – Madson A new creative design competition hosted by Dwell and James Hardie. Titled “Playhaus,” this competition challenges designers to create a children’s playhouse. However the designer’s mission is to think beyond the typical playhouse prototype—dollhouses, pirate ships—and develop a structure that is daring, decadent and chic. The design should turn the heads of slow passersby, and be the envy of fun-loving kids and sophisticated parents alike. And because the grand prize is $10,000, we thought this would be a unique and fun opportunity for SCAD Architecture students and faculty. All of the details, rules and regulations can be found at dwell.com/playhaus. The deadline is Sept. 30.

All the news that’s fit to print…ABOUT OUR ALUMNI!Posted by: arch in Department, General“When Macarena Chiriboga came to Bali in 2009, she had just finished a master’s degree in architecture in the United States, doing her thesis on the use of bamboo as a building material. The trip was meant to be a vacation. But drawn by the unusual architecture of a school on the island — the Green School, whose buildings are all made from bamboo — she was soon back, and is now designing buildings for a “green village” being built by the developer Ibuku International about an hour’s drive from the Indonesian island’s beaches.”, New York Times, March 11, 2011 Read the full article in the New York Times. Come to the reception and ask architecture student Dubem Aniebonam what it all means to exercise your gray matter! On March 4th at noon, foundation studies will hold a reception for the completion of a Design/Build project at Boundary Hall. Ms. Aniebonam created a design in her 3D Design class last winter that was chosen to be fabricated at 15 feet tall. We are very proud of Ms. Aniebonam and encourage everyone to attend and support this outstanding opportunity. |
