Habitat ReStore Manager position

The Coastal Empire Habitat for Humanity is opening a Habitat ReStore, a retail business that accepts donations of gently used building materials and supplies and sells them to the general public. Habitat ReStore is seeking a full time ReStore Manager to coordinate the start up of the new business and manage the business.

 

QUALIFICATIONS:
• Demonstrates commitment to Habitat Savannah’s families and mission
• Effective communication and listening skills and attention to detail
• Self-starter with ability to work both independently and with other staff and volunteers
• Ability to provide direction to other staff and volunteers
• Ability to relate to people of different races, faiths and incomes
• Valid driver’s license with good driving record
• At least 5 years of experience in retail management
• Experience in volunteer management
• Ability to utilize Microsoft Office package and other computer tools
• Strong problem-solving skills

 

TIME COMMITMENT: Full-time

 

REPORTS TO: Executive Director

 

EDUCATION: Bachelor’s degree

 

GENERAL ADMINISTRATION
• Working with the ReStore committee, develops and implements store policies Trains senior staff on these policies
• Acts to ensure that all Habitat Savannah policies and procedures are adhered to by staff and volunteers
• Acts to ensure that all donors, customers, and volunteers are treated equally, fairly, and with dignity

 

FINANCIAL MANAGEMENT
• Regularly reviews the financial transactions in the ReStore
• Develops an annual budget
• Works with staff to ensure that the budget projections are met
• Reports financial anomalies to the Accounting Manager when they occur
• Researches grant opportunities and pursues them when appropriate
• Reports income to the Accounting Manager on a regular basis. Provides the Accounting Manager with further information upon request
• Provides a quarterly sales analysis to the Executive Director and staff bookkeeper

 

PERSONNEL
• Develops job descriptions for all volunteers who will work in the ReStore
• Provides direction and supervision for senior staff
• Conducts a weekly staff meeting with senior staff
• Provides the necessary training for staff
• Provides sweat equity opportunities for interested partner families
• Thanks volunteers regularly for their contributions

 

PUBLIC RELATIONS
• Aggressively pursues media opportunities in radio, print, and television
• With the ReStore Committee, plan and execute special events for the ReStore
• Pursue public speaking opportunities to provide information about the services that the ReStore has available
• Working with the affiliate Executive Director, address any positive or negative stories that are in the media regarding the ReStore
• Address and attempt to resolve any customer complaints that aren’t able to be resolved by the Assistant Manager

 

MARKETING
• Develops an annual advertising budget
• Oversees the use of the advertising budget, including all media buys
• Oversees the development of all marketing materials (i.e., commercials, print ads, etc.)
• Develops, implements, and reviews the ReStore marketing strategy

 

COMMUNITY OUTREACH
• Works to develop positive relationships with related governmental agencies. Works with those agencies to promote partnerships and possible grant dollars
• Works with related industries to promote the services that the ReStore provides to the community

 

GROWTH/LONG RANGE PLANNING
• Works to ensure steady and sustainable growth in all areas of the ReStore
• Provides recommendations to the Executive Director regarding expansion

Robert Ogden (B.F.A., video/film, 2004) is managing a casting call for figure drawing models for the world famous artists of DreamWorks Animation located in Redwood City, Calif. The modeling sessions will be 11:30 a.m.-1:30 p.m. every Tuesday. Both male and female models over the age of 19 are needed. David Stark Design and Production seeks a full-time designer to be a part of this leading event design and production company responsible for creating some of the most celebrated event experiences worldwide for a broad range of clientele in the entertainment, fashion, publishing, arts, media and consumer products industries.

 

Key Responsibilities
-Attend kickoff meetings for assigned projects.
-Lead brainstorming sessions internally with the design department to come up with a range of ideas for each new event.
-Report results of brainstorm to the creative director and work in tandem with him to explore, refine and finally select a creative direction for an event.
-Develop the creative direction into specific décor elements. Research materials and methods, obtain quotes from multiple vendors, foresee obstacles and brainstorm solutions.
-Work closely with the given project manager of an event to develop a décor budget based on the proposed elements.
-Create both floorplans and renderings for both internal ideation and reference, and for client presentation.
-Revise both floorplans and renderings throughout the process with the opinions of the client and creative director in mind, as well as the limitations of the budget and venue.
-Design, oversee, and sometimes produce studio samples for both internal reference and client review.
-Design all décor elements with streamlined, efficient production in mind, as well as the safety of both on-site installation crew and guests.
-Create clear technical drawings for both the DSI studio and outside vendors to produce all design elements.
-Purchase all décor materials and be responsible for all receipts.
-Be responsible for quality control of all purchased and produced décor elements.
-Direct an onsite team during event installation and be responsible for quality control of all décor elements.
-Attend project review sessions after each event and give constructive criticism and useful feedback.

 

Experience and Qualifications
-Bachelors Degree in Art or Design, Industrial Design a plus
-2-3 years experience in design firm or production environment
-Strong conceptual abilities and original thinking
-Self-directed, responsible and able to meet deadlines
-Superior communication and presentation skills, to vendors, clients and internally
-Skilled at translating three dimensional spaces into plan/elevation drawings-Complete proficiency in Adobe Illustrator, Photoshop, InDesign and AutoCAD Lt
-Microsoft Excel, Word and Outlook fluency
-A professional demeanor
-Must be able to both work independently and as part of a team
