Work by John Hames (M.F.A., Photography, 2002) is included in the Art of Photography Show occurring August 28 through November 7. The world-class international exhibition takes place at the elegant two-level Lyceum Theatre Gallery in San Diego, Ca.

Hilary Bronwyn Gayle featured in ICG Magazine

A film still shot by Hilary Bronwyn Gayle (B.F.A., photography, 2006) on the set of Patrick Roddy’s psychological thriller, Mercy, was featured in the July issue of ICG Magazine. This is the second year Hilary’s work was selected for publication in the magazine. In 2009, her film still from Red 21 was also featured.

Angela Dominguez (B.F.A., illustration, 2004) illustrates for the children’s book, Carmen Learns English (Holiday House Publishing), which release this September. Dominguez’s fourth book, La Noche Buena (Abrams Books), is being released this November.

Andrew Bayroff (B.F.A., graphic design, 1994) releases his self-published book, “Pushing the Hack. ” In the book, Bayroff interviews his 100-year-old grandfather and retired NYC taxi driver, who shares insight on his 40 year profession and what it was like living in the early 1900′s.

Congratulations to alumna Holly Schmidt Akkerman (M.F.A., graphic design, 2008) who took gold and bronze awards at the Savannah Ad Federation 2010 ADDY’s. Akkerman also received two Honorable Mentions at the American Association of Museums 2010 Museum Publication Competition for her designs with Telfair Museum in Savannah, Ga.

SCAD Graduate Releases Book Rebelling Against The Pin-up Craze

Jenn Alexander Fletcher (B.F.A., photography, 2005) releases her first photography book Less Pin-up, More Pin-down, a collection of 34 unexpected photographs. The series is part continuation and part rebellion against the artist’s earlier series Alexander Girls, which was a collection of contemporary pin-ups.

 

The release party will be held on Saturday, August 28, 5-8pm at Lucky Starr, a vintage boutique located in the Marietta Square at 5 Powder Springs St., Marietta, Ga. There will be a meet and greet, book signing, giveaways, and a milk and cookie bar. Event is free and open to the public.

Patrick Millard exhibits at International Festival of NanoArt in Spain

Patrick Millard (M.F.A., photography, 2008) has been chosen as one of the select artists to be included in the International Festival of NanoArt this fall in Spain. He will be exhibiting his work NanoResponse at the festival, which is dedicated to showcasing artwork created with nanotechnology as its conceptual focus. The festival will take place September 20 – October 10 in San Sebastian, Spain.

CNN interviews Stephen Hayes

CNN recently interviewed Stephen Hayes (M.F.A., sculpture, 2010) about his exhibition “Cash Crop” showing at Mason Murer in Atlanta. The installation demonstrates the way slaves were brought from Africa to the U.S. with 15 life size statues of former slaves, representing the 15 million that were transported to the New World. The exhibition has been extended through September 22 at Mason Murer, 199 Armour Dr, Atlanta, Ga.
