Connect and network with SCAD alumni in the Miami area and visiting SCAD faculty and staff at the SCAD Alumni in Miami Networking Event at Neox Image Studio, Friday, Nov. 19, 6-8 p.m. Owned by Michelle Citrin (B.F.A., photography, 2009) and David Lloyd (B.F.A., photography and graphic design, 2009), Neox Image Studio is in the heart of Miami’s Wynwood Arts District. On view at Neox Image Studio will be photography by SCAD photography professor Ashley E. Craig (M.F.A., photography, 2007).

 

Neox Image Studio is located at 250 N.W. 23rd St., Unit 204, Miami, Florida. Attire for the event is casual. There is no cost to attend. Wine and light refreshments will be served. Join Mitchell Rubenstein, executive vice president of creative content at Herzog & Co. Rubenstein will give an overview of current Herzog & Co. projects including “Pirates of the Caribbean 4,” “Transformers 3,” “Hangover 2,” “Contagion,” and “Boardwalk Empire.” Rubenstein will discuss the Los Angeles entertainment industry, as well as job and paid internship information.

US Civil Air Patrol seeks aerial photographers

The US Civil Air Patrol is the auxiliary branch of the United States Air Force comprised of volunteer members from a wide variety of professions and backgrounds. The Savannah Composite Squadron is seeking members to serve in a wide variety of areas including disaster preparedness, search and rescue operations, and aerial photography. Phelps wins AIA award

Patrick L. Phelps (M.Arch, 1995), AIA, LEED AP received the 2010 AIA Georgia Emerging Professional Award for his commitment to the profession and community. AIA Georgia, an association of the American Institute of Architects, presents this distinguished award to only one architect within the State in a given year. Phelps has served as project architect with Hansen Architects since 1998, focusing on historic preservation and sustainability for significant commercial, institutional and civic projects. Award winning projects for which he served as project architect include preservation of the Carnegie Branch Library, U. S. Marine Hospital for SCAD-York Hall, and the Richard Arnold School for SCAD-Arnold Hall. Phelps is a member of the American Institute of Architects; AIA-Savannah, serving as president elect, president and past president; the US Green Building Council; William Jay Society; and Historic Savannah Foundation, 13th Colony. He participates in numerous community programs including Habitat for Humanity and Re-Building Together.
