SCAD Alumni Association’s Blog

Career Services provides a resource and referral center for alumni seeking information about employment, postgraduate study, competitions, internships and other career-related opportunities. Individual career counseling is available to provide alumni with professional job search assistance. Alumni are strongly encouraged to utilize College Central to post their resumes and portfolios and review lists of internships, full-time, part-time and freelance opportunities. Alumni are also encouraged to contact career services for information about employer visits and on-campus interviews or visit their website .

Recent career opportunities obtained by 2010 SCAD Alumni:

• Graduate architecture alumni John Seta accepted a position as an intern architect at Studio A in Louisville, Ky.

• Graphic design alumni Kyle Read accepted a full-time assistant graphic design position with Abercrombie & Fitch.

• Dorien Gunnels (B.F.A., visual effects, 2010) and undergraduate animation student Hanwei Wu accepted positions with Dreamworks in Redwood City, Calif.

• Christie Tandiono (BFA, Graphic Design, ’10) was hired for a summer internship at Ogilvy in NYC.

• BFA Fashion Alumni, Sara M. Johnson, Rita Johnson, Elizabeth Caples, Kendall Barry, BFA in Fashion was hired for a summer design internship at LF USA in NYC.

• Animation alumni Dixie Pizani accepted an animation apprenticeship from Rhythm & Hues.

• Graphic design alumni Silvina Guerreiro will work with Ogilvy in New York City, as a designer/art director and will work on projects for Sara Lee, Thomson Reuters and SAP.

• Graphic design alumni Christie Tandiono will work with Ogilvy in New York City as a designer/ art director and will work on projects for Avon.

• Fashion alumni Hana Robins received an internship with Ties That Matter in Atlanta for the summer.

• Illustration alumni Haley Jones will work at BackTooEarth LLC, an organic food company as a graphic designer/illustrator.

• Dorien Gunnels (B.F.A., visual effects, 2010) and undergraduate animation student Hanwei Wu accepted positions with Dreamworks in Redwood City, Calif.

• Graduate visual effects student Kiki Poh accepted an offer from Pixar for their year-long shading/lighting (VSFX) residency.

• Fibers alumni Stacey Fong will intern at Foley and Corinna in New York City this summer.

Western Carolina University in Cullowhee, Nc seeks applications for the 2010 Outdoor Sculpture Competition. Open to sculptors working in the Southeast (Alabama, Florida, Georgia, North Carolina, South Carolina, Georgia, Tennessee, Kentucky, Virginia and West Virginia). There is no entry fee and applicants must be 18 or older.

Five works will be selected for a one year exhibit. Winners will each receive a $2,000 honorarium plus complimentary lodging.  Deadline is August 6, 2010.  Download application here.
