Lauren Pazzaneze (B.F.A., media and performing arts, 2004) is owner of Junkyard Arts, a virtual gallery and collaborative based in Somerville, Mass. Junkyard Arts will host The Good, The Bad & The Junkyard II Dec. 4, 6-10 p.m. at the Museum of Bad Art (MoBA) in the Somerville Theater, 55 Davis Sq., Somerville, Mass.

“Eye Sea Reflections” by Lillian Blades (B.F.A., painting, 1996) opens Sunday, Nov. 22 with a reception from 2-5 p.m. at Hammonds House Museum, 503 Peeples St., Atlanta, Ga. The exhibit is on display through Jan. 31, 2010.

SCAD is proud to be a supporting organization for the Business of Design Week, which takes place in Hong Kong Nov. 30-Dec. 5. Because of the university’s involvement, discount tickets are available to SCAD alumni who will be in the area and want to attend. A’plas: The Story of Father Rother” by Diego Colombi (B.F.A., film and television, 2009) premieres Tuesday, Nov. 10, 9 p.m. on Oklahoma PBS. Father Rother, an Oklahoma native, served as a missionary in Guatemala until his murder by a right-wing death squad. The documentary was originally produced for Colombi’s senior project at SCAD.

SCAD showcases the School of Fine Arts with the inaugural deFINE ART festival Nov. 10-14. The mission of deFINE ART is to establish an annual fall festival highlighting the School of Fine Arts on par with the nationally recognized spring SCAD Style festival. deFINE ART seeks to celebrate the achievements and outstanding caliber of SCAD’s School of Fine Arts that is actively shaping and giving rise to new artistic expression, dialogue and innovation. Highlighted disciplines include painting, photography, printmaking and sculpture.

 

deFINE ART brings a broad range of noted art professionals, alumni and special guests to SCAD with the highly-anticipated Open Studios as the festival anchor. Nick Cave, Marilyn Minter, Trenton Doyle Hancock and Richard Vine are just a few of the acclaimed artists and professionals who will be performing, lecturing and exhibiting in Atlanta and Savannah at this year’s festival, Nov. 10-14.
