Join the Denver SCAD Alumni Facebook Group and check out their next event, La Piazza dell’Arte in Downtown Denver, the weekend of June 6-7.

Also, the group needs more sketches to hit “30” for their street painting. So if you are Colorado SCAD alumni, please send a sketch or photo by June 3 to Amy Cheslin-Turner or post a photo to the Facebook event invitation.

The final design will bring a stretch of Savannah’s cobblestones to Denver by using these symbolic “30” sketches as the pattern image to be painted in pastel/chalk on a stretch of pavement in Larimer Square. More details and initial design idea can be found on the events section of the Larimer Square Web site.

Even if you can’t make it to out to help paint, you can still be part of the design and SCAD’s 30th Anniversary Celebration by submitting a sketch!

The Cine-Files, the official SCAD cinema studies department Web site and blog, seeks content for its first issue. The theme is “The Travel Film.” Movies often transport us by leading us into uncharted waters, to other lands, to places unknown and fantastical. But there is also a genre of film that seeks to romanticize, infantilize and demonize other cultures and places. They can be lush, stark, thrilling, inspiring or humbling. The Cine-Files wishes to further explore this genre through specific examples, instances of Orientalism, colonialism, adventure, history, characterization and more in films. Submissions requirements and additional details can be found online.
