SCAD-Atlanta had a wonderfully successful Scholarship Gala featuring over 100 pieces of original artwork for auction, honorary chair Miles Redd, and a record breaking 600+ in attendance. Final figures of how much money was raised to help students will be announced soon. Thank you to all the students, faculty, staff, alumni and friends who helped make this year’s event so spectacular!
Design Thinking deadline for submissions is Monday, May 4. Showcasing the breadth of SCAD’s design discipline, Design Thinking will also represent designers as artists who are receptive to a synthesis of open source practicality, luxury, conceptual thinking and creativity, and who satisfy our complex needs and stimulate our active curiosity. Submissions are welcome in all media from students, faculty and alumni from the School of Design.

SCAD’s Student Preservation Association and the historic preservation department announce the annual Preservation Week lecture series. The theme of this year’s series is International Preservation, with speakers covering a variety of topics, from Russian architecture to urban conservation issues worldwide. All lectures take place at 7:30 p.m. and are free and open to the public. SCAD painting professor Craig Drennen announces his “Mistresses, Apemantus, and Flattering Lords” exhibit April 24- May 16 at Gallery Stokes, 261 Walker Street SW, Atlanta GA. An opening reception is scheduled for April 24, 7-10 p.m. during the Castleberry Hill 4th Friday Art Stroll. This exhibition contains adult language and imagery that may not be suitable for minors or sensitive viewers.
