Boulder, Co. based theater company square product theatre, founded by Emily K. Harrison (M.F.A., media and performing arts, 2004) and Charlotte Brecht Munn (B.F.A., media and performing arts, 2006), won the 2008 Denver Post Reader’s Choice Award in the Best Comedy category for their production of Wendy MacLeod’s “The House of Yes,” as well as the 2008 Camera Eye Award for Best Actress in a Comedy (Kelsie Huff in her original solo show “Huffs”). “The House of Yes” was nominated for the 2008 Denver Post Ovation Award in the Best Comedy category and Harrison was nominated (write-in) for the 2008 Denver Post Ovation Award for Best Actress in a Comedy; square also garnered a 2008 Camera Eye Award Nomination in the Best Actress in a Supporting Role, Comedy, for “The House of Yes” (Meridith Crosley).

“The House of Yes” was directed by Munn and featured Harrison. “Huffs” was an original solo show written and performed by Chicago-based comedienne Kelsie Huff, directed by Jason Madeja and produced by square product theatre at the Boulder International Fringe Festival. square will next produce “Tornado Season,” a new solo show written and performed by Harrison, directed by Pesha Rudnick with Munn as assistant director. “Tornado Season” explores intersections of faith and violence in the American landscape and consciousness. Through the use of text, image, sound, video and movement, we travel to the intersection where the Bible Belt meets Tornado Alley, where floods meet fires; cowboys, debutantes, crystal meth, America. “Tornado Season” runs March 6-21 in The Black Box Theatre at the ATLAS, Center for Arts, Media and Performance in Boulder, Colo.
