SCAD alumna Laura (Pahler) Baker (B.F.A., furniture design, 2005) has made it past the first round of voting to be named one of 12 finalists in Fine Woodworking’s 2008 Furniture Build-off Contest. Baker designed and built a table and chair combination called “Flip-flop.” The finalists were chosen by a panel of judges, but the rest of the contest will be decided during four rounds of voting by the general public. CONGRATULATIONS to the SCAD Denver Alumni Group for winning “Best Use of Color” in the recent La Piazza dell’ Arte event in Denver. The Savannah College of Art and Design announced that it has won the 2008 ICFF Editors Award for Best Design School for their presentation, “Designed Conversation,” at the International Contemporary Furniture Fair, May 17-20, Jacob K. Javits Convention Center in New York City. Read more.
