ART HISTORY SOCIETY (as of Fall 2012)!

Hello all! Due to its accessibility and greater reach, we have moved our operation over to Facebook. We will still be posting very general and basic announcements here, but much of the day-to-day happenings take place in our Facebook group.
If you’ve come to this blog to join AHS, we couldn’t be happier to have you! Our meetings are open to everyone, regardless of major. The easiest way to join us is just to come to a meeting! If you would like to contact us personally about joining, you can email us at ahs@scad.edu. We have official monthly meetings, as well as smaller weekly meetings. The monthly meetings are announced in advance (announcements are posted on this blog, in the Facebook group, and by email). At these meetings we usually plan events, talk about art history & school, and eat pizza (!).

Doughnut Sales!

As finals looms closer (*James Theme Music here*) its time to sign up for Doughnut sales! I know it is a lot to ask for time during this week, but this is our biggest (and currently only …) fundraiser. The fundraising money from this event is what pays for the pizza during our meetings, any food for events we put on, and new items for the club in general (we’ll get the new banner someday!).
Any amount of time you can give, even if it is only a half hour, would be phenomenal. Feel free to sign up for any time, even f someone has already signed up – the more the merrier! If you have never volunteered with us before, this is the perfect opportunity to do so!

Midnight in Paris @ The Student Center

UPDATE: Due to not owning the movie rights (and being too poor to afford them) we regrettably have to cancel this event. Stay tuned for future events!
Hi all! I hope your quarter is going well. As it comes to a close, SCAD AHS will be hosting a movie night!
We will be showing Midnight in Paris on the second floor of the Student Center, at 8 PM on February 28th (next Thursday!).
As per the usual for AHS events, food and drinks will be provided for all who attend.

AHS In the New Year

Hello and welcome to our blog for the 2010-2011 school year.
Anyone interested in meeting with the Art History Society can show up in the Reading Room of Arnold Hall at 4:30 on Tuesdays. You don’t have to be an art history major, either. We are here to discuss art history, and we can even help with professor and class selection and writing skills, and much much more.
If you are good at design, be on the look out for the opportunity to win cash or prizes by redesigning the AHS logo. More information on this will be coming soon!
Don’t forget, the quarterly AHS Bus Trip is coming soon! We will be traveling to Atlanta on October 29th. We will be visiting the Carlos Museum and the High Museum, which will have a great exhibit on Titian. We will be watching Halloween movies on the way on the charter bus. It’s sure to be a real SCREAM! More info on the bus trip and how to sign up will be coming soon!
On October 15th, Dr. Trittel will be giving a talk on Elizabethian Portraiture. This will be held in Arnold, room 137 at 1pm. This is the first in a series of professor presentations on current research. Look out for more information on this as well.
MOST IMPORTANTLY DON’T FORGET!!! Doughnut Sales are coming! These will be held in the entryway of Arnold Hall on the 12th and 13th of October. Don’t forget to bring your dollars so you can enjoy a hot fresh Krispy Kreme doughnut, and this year, we’re going to be selling fresh fruit as a healthy alternative.
