Exploration: Concentration and Isolation
In class today we did an exploration, which really means we purposefully doodled. I’d like to digress right out of the gate on this one, and say how immensely I enjoy this sort of thing. I’ve never been a strong designer, but I am incredibly good at failing. This fantastic skill of mine allows me to run through option after option until I find something that works, and that is exactly what the exploration was. It gave me a chance to just try different things until I found something that worked.
What the actual exploration was about however, was creating a focal point through concentration and isolation. Concentration deals with arranging the objects in your frame into one condensed area, as to draw the eye there. Whereas isolation is achieved by making one object on your page different in some way, so the viewer’s eyes have no choice but to be directed to the variation.

The second is just amazing. I like the isolation of the shape.
I love how you speak. In person you seem so young and upbeat and then you write all this and it sounds like you’re hearing a professor lecture! I love your isolation piece ! I love lasy bugs..it IS a lady bug yes? Failing is a big part of success! I love how you intrepreted this assignment. I really am over thinking everything!
These are some really interesting designs. You made some very effective layouts with the stencils you had. Good work.
Ok, first they are so cute! I like how you chose to use shading in your pieces, but your concentration piece I find a little confusing as to where you want the focal point to be. I still really love your concept though.
Hey lady. Absolutely loving these.

Many people didn’t use a stencil, I like that you did. Your isolation design was definitely my favorite! I love how bold the big lady bug is! Good job!

Both are very cute, and I think they both would look good as something printed (like on stationary/or clothing.) Your stylishness comes through in your art for sure. My favorite is the concentration one. Keep it up…
