Learn How to Use and Add to SCAD Digital Image Databases
In conjunction with the VRC in Savannah, the ACA Library in Atlanta is accepting requests from faculty for image scanning.
Digital Resources:
SCAD’s Digital Image Database is accessible through a link on the library webpage or the Resources section of MySCAD and contains over 72,000 images. Faculty can add images to this database for academic use. SCAD also subscribes to ARTstor which gives you access to more that 1,000,000 high quality digital images that can be downloaded for presentations in PowerPoint or a tool of your choice.
Services:
Faculty can request images to be added to the DID for academic use by filling out a faculty image request form and bringing the form plus the material to Mary Murphy in the ACA Library Rm 418. While the ACA Library has the capacity to scan slides, images from books will be sent to Savannah to be scanned. Time frames for scanning and additional guidelines can be found on the VRC website:

Workshops:
The ACA Library offers faculty workshops about using visual resources every quarter. These workshops focus on navigating digital collections, updating your technological know how, and creating presentations with digital images.
The next workshop is an in-depth tour of ARTstor with special tips for instructors. It will take place February 24th from 9am-12pm in the Welcome Center.
The workshop is free and registration is required.
Contact Mary Murphy, Visual Resources Librarian, at mmurphy@scad.edu or stop by Rm 418 in the ACA Library for assistance with using the VRC resources, requesting images, or registering for workshops.
