Allison Arieff, former editor in chief of Dwell magazine, writes a thoughtful op-ed in The New York Times about improving design by improving materials. She looks at reinventing supply chain management for product design so that chemists, manufacturers, designers, and users can communicate more clearly about what they need economically, environmentally, and aesthetically.
