One of the nation’s longest-serving and most influential senators, Ted Kennedy’s life has been documented in pictures by many photographers and media outlets. SCAD Faculty and Alumni Published in New American Paintings

SCAD faculty and alumni have had their works published in the most recent edition of New American Paintings: Juried Exhibitions-in-Print. This important competition is cataloged by region, and the most recent edition, South, includes eight members of the SCAD community.

To view their work, come to the ACA Library and pick up this new publication. It is located with the magazines and journals that are just to the left of the entrance of the library.

Woodstock was a music festival that drew hundreds of thousands of musicians and fans to a farm in the rural town of Bethel, New York, August 15-18, 1969. The Book Seer

Finished the reading you had planned for the summer vacation? Wondering what to read next? Ask the librarians at the ACA Library of SCAD! We have a browsing collection of popular fiction and nonfiction for you to peruse and check out for two weeks.

Another place to find suggestions for reading is Book Seer. Simply put in the title of the book and author that you read most recently, and Book Seer will suggest titles that you should look at next. These titles are culled from Amazon, Library Thing, and Book Army. This website is fast, fun, and easy to use and will provide you with good suggestions for pleasure reading.

Louvre Collections Online

Would you like to see the collections at the Musee du Louvre, but you can’t make it to France this summer? You can still view some of the Louvre’s greatest treasures from home. The Louvre’s databases make available online a variety of masterpieces, including British, French, and American art. The Atlas database, which contains 35,000 works, was recently made available in English.

Bookmaplet

Have you ever seen a street address online and wanted to see it’s location on a map without having to go to a separate website with maps? Then check out Bookmaplet. This tool allows you to map an address without leaving the website that contains the address.

To create a map, drag the bookmaplet icon to your toolbar. Highlight the street address that you want to find on the web page, and then click the bookmaplet icon on your toolbar. The map will open in a separate window on the site that you are viewing. It’s mapping made easy!

New Fashion Journal Acquired by SCAD Libraries

SCAD Libraries has acquired access to Fashion Practice, a new fashion journal that was first published May 2009. Fashion Practice is unique in that accepts articles about the theory of fashion as well as articles about fashion design and the methodologies for creating fashion. This journal is peer-reviewed, which makes it an excellent source for scholarly research, but it will also contain articles on the process of creating fashion.
