Re-thinking Product Design

Posted on November 2nd, 2009 in Uncategorized by acalibrary

Allison Arieff, former editor in chief of Dwell magazine, writes a thoughtful op-ed in The New York Times about improving design by improving materials. She looks at reinventing supply chain management for product design so that chemists, manufacturers, designers, and users can communicate more clearly about what they need economically, environmentally, and aesthetically. For the full article, point your browser to: http://arieff.blogs.nytimes.com/2009/11/01/not-new-but-improved/

Arieff also references the Material Connexion database to which SCAD Libraries subscribe. If this article inspires you to search out new materials, make an appointment with the reference librarian to learn more about this comprehensive database. Contact Sally Fortin via email at sfortin@scad.edu to make an appointment.
